Water Recycling Operator

The role
We are looking for someone with initiative and a can-do attitude to join us as a Water Recycling Plant (WRP) Operator. The role is part of a supportive team and is critical in safely operating our WRPs to support the community and protect our environment.
As a WRP Operator, your day may involve:
- Taking a walk around your allocated area of the treatment plant to ensure the process and equipment is working as intended
- Talking with the WRP Manager or Team Leader of the WRP, and team mates to prioritise your tasks and help with critical activities
- Testing samples in the lab and monitoring trends on our control system so you can assess the performance of the plant
- Issuing work permits and reviewing safe work method statements for jobs undertaken by our contractor partners to ensure the work is carried out safely and without impact on the plant
- Once you are familiar with the plant, joining the on-call roster to help monitor the WRPs 24/7
Who are you?
We are looking for someone who:
- Enjoys a mix of outdoor and desk based work
- Likes solving problems
- Enjoys working in a close knit supportive team
- Wants to help protect our environment
- Can share ideas and engage with a variety of people
- Ideally has a background in wastewater treatment, an engineering or science degree, or a willingness to learn
- Be able to work out of one of our two bases at Pakenham or Mt Martha Water Recycling Plants
Please note: you must be up to date, or willing to get up to date with inoculations as per the requirements of the role.

This role is remunerated at a Level 2, which is between $82,036 and $88,719 + super and offers are commensurate with the successful candidates' experience.

As part of a team of engineers and technicians, central to this role are responsibilities for 24/7 safe operation to provide support and minimise disruption of services to customers and as well as ensuring that public health and the environment are not put at risk. This includes participation in a rostered after-hours duty team, emergency response, and incident support as required.
