Water Maintenance Technician

The role

 

This is a great opportunity to join the Water Maintenance team at South East Water. This team provides technical support to our internal and external stakeholders and are responsible for supporting the recycled water supply network and potable water at South East Water.

 

Reporting to the Water Maintenance Engineer, you will be part of the team responsible for incident management and emergency support, ensuring that the public, environment and contractors are safe from any risk. Depending on your experience, there will be opportunities for mentoring trainees within the Network Operations and Maintenance Groups.

 

Other key accountabilities are as follows:

 

  • Undertake audits of the principal contractors and other external contractors, identifying trends and improvements and negotiating implementation of the improvements.
  • Assess and ensure that the work sites are established and maintained in accordance with HSE protocols and procedures.
  • Independently respond to complex customer issues usually within tight timeframes and undertake appropriate action.
  • Be a part of the after-hours duty roster, providing support and response to water and sewer issues.
  • Daily use SEW's works management system (Montage) to issue and verify completion of works.

Who are you?

 

With exceptional written and verbal communication skills, you will hold relevant tertiary or trade qualifications such as Plumbing, Fitter or 5+ years in maintenance, operations or construction of water and recycled water networks.

A strong customer focus and the ability to confidently negotiate, present and discuss technical information to internal and external stakeholders is a must. 

 

In order to be considered for this highly sought-after role, candidates will require the following key skills, knowledge and experience as a minimum:

 

  • Have a general understanding of the appropriate OH&S Regulations, Certified Agreement, Aus. and WSAA Standards and Codes of Practice.
  • A broad understanding of the hydraulic principles that apply to water systems.
  • Knowledge of Maintenance procedures and specifications with the ability to implement identify improvements to the process.
  • Ability to accept change and independently seek research and implement opportunities for improvement.

This role is remunerated between $101, 563 and $114, 918 + super and offers are commensurate with the successful candidates' experience.

 As part of a team of engineers and technicians, central to this role are responsibilities for 24/7 safe operation to provide support and minimise disruption of services to customers and as well as ensuring that public health and the environment are not put at risk. This includes participation in a rostered after-hours duty team, emergency response, and incident support as required.
