Telemetry - Technical Support Officer

The role
South East Water are looking for a permanent full-time Technical Support Officer to join the Telemetry team. In this role, you will be responsible for IoT hardware within the Telemetry Team’s portfolio, Database administration, Hardware and Software configuration, Firmware, system performance and improvements.
You will be required to diagnose and rectify faults both remotely and on-site, you will also be managing internal and external resources needed to complete tasks. This role requires both the ability to work productively in a team and autonomously as you will need to be able to work across different teams and stake holders to facilitate projects.
As part of a team of engineers and technicians, central to this role are responsibilities for 24/7 safe operation to provide support and minimise disruption of services to customers and as well as ensuring that public health and the environment are not put at risk. This includes participation in a rostered after-hours duty team, emergency response, and incident support as required.
This role will come with a work vehicle, this is a hybrid role in which you are able to work from home.
Who are you?
- Minimum of 10 years’ experience, Trade or Diploma qualified is essential – water operations/business administration/project management. Otherwise, substantial operational experience in the water/electricity/gas industry.
- Practical experience of Hardware configuration, Coding & FW management.
- Practical knowledge and experience of IoT technology, particularly in the areas of GPS, level, pressure and flow sensing applications.
- An understanding and exposure to SCADA, CCTV, Access Control, RTU & Communication systems.
- An understanding and exposure to Networks, PCs and Server / Client relationships.
- Strong analytical and problem-solving skills to identify and resolve engineering challenges
- Ability to interpret and create technical drawings, schematics, and specifications
- Solid project management and administration skills – Scoping, RFQ, RFI and evaluation stages then managing technical, financial and labour resources for successful project delivery.
- Advanced Finance/Procurement understanding and experience including Tenders, BCs, approvals, CAPEX & OPEX budgeting, POs, receipting and invoicing.
- Familiarity with cybersecurity standards and requirements within an Operational Technology environment, ensuring systems are secure and resilient.
- Excellent written and oral communication with the ability to work collaboratively within a team.
- Excellent organisational skills, with the ability to work autonomously with an attention to detail.
- Experience in data management, database administration and analysis. Proficiency in automating processes and enhancing system functionality would also be highly desirable.
- Current Driver’s License.

This is a level 5 position, with remuneration ranging from $112,377-$125,011 + Superannuation.
