The role
The Business Technology Services (BTS) group is responsible for delivering and supporting Information Technology across South East Water (SEW), aligned with our broader sustainability strategy. As a Senior Project Manager, you will be part of the Project Delivery Team within BTS, reporting to the Project Manager Lead.
This role is focused on leading and managing IT projects—particularly those involving the delivery of SEW's advanced data and analytics platform and other enterprise data initiatives, to ensure successful delivery within scope, budget, and timeline, while achieving strategic business outcomes. You will manage all aspects of project execution, applying the PMO's delivery framework to maximise return on investment.
Some of the key responsibilities will include;
- Leading the delivery of IT projects from initiation to completion, including data warehouse transformation and data integration initiatives, applying agile principles throughout.
- Managing project budgets, schedules, scope, and quality to ensure benefits are realised.
- Implementing robust governance and project methodologies to drive successful outcomes.
- Applying risk management techniques to identify, mitigate, and communicate risks effectively.
- Engaging and managing vendors on complex projects, particularly those involving data architecture and analytics platforms, ensuring deliverables meet expectations.
- Communicating effectively with senior stakeholders to ensure alignment and support for project objectives.
Who are you?
You hold a degree-level qualification in Information Technology or a related field and bring extensive experience managing a variety of data and technology projects in medium to large organisations. You have a strong background in project delivery, governance, and Agile practices, with a particular focus on data-centric initiatives, including data warehouse transformation, Data Lake and Lakehouse development. Your experience will also include overseeing the full lifecycle of data platform projects—from design and implementation, through to operational transition and business adoption, ensuring long-term sustainability and value realisation.
The following skills, knowledge and experience will also ensure your success in this full-time, permanent position;
- Proven track record in programme and project management
- Extensive experience managing vendor relationships and performance management
- Skilled in understanding of risk management practices in project environments.
- Demonstrated ability to engage and manage senior stakeholders across business and technical domains.
- Excellent written and verbal communication skills.
- Ability to thrive in a dynamic, fast-paced environment while maintaining focus on project objectives and outcomes.
