The role
The Senior Project Engineer ensures safe, timely and efficient delivery of infrastructure assets that support integrated water management and broader Liveability outcomes.
Reporting into the Program Manager, the Senior Project Engineer will deliver projects that will support long term water sustainability and security and build resilient communities and customers, while mitigating South East Water’s impact on the environment. In this role you'll manage projects from inception to handover, engage with internal and external stakeholders and apply industry and South East Water standards to deliver critical infrastructure for the water industry. Ensuring safety in planning, design and delivery is an essential component of this role.
The role is available on a 12-month maximum term basis, to cover a period of parental leave.
Who are you?
You're a qualified Engineer with eligibility for or registration as a professional Engineer in Victoria. You can demonstrate 7+ years of experience in project management and/or significant experience in sewer, water or wastewater treatment infrastructure design and delivery.
To see success in this role, you can demonstrate skill, experience or knowledge in the following key areas:
- Strong understanding of sustainability and liveability principles.
- Experience in establishing and maintaining a strong safety culture, with knowledge of relevant OHS codes, standards, and legislation.
- Demonstrated leadership, drive, initiative, creativity, and a high level of personal motivation to successfully deliver projects.
- Demonstrated Project Management skills and a strong understanding of infrastructure asset project lifecycle.
- Understanding of commercial contracts with the ability to manage, formulate and track individual budgets.
- Ability to understand the impacts of decisions on cost, other stakeholders and customers.
- Strong written and verbal communication skills, with the ability to negotiate on matters such as contractors claims, variations and commercial disputes, refer to the relevant escalation point.
- Broad knowledge of standards and specifications, including relevant WSAA Codes necessary for the design and construction of South East Water’s assets including knowledge of legislation related to the Water Industry.
- Demonstrated customer focus when dealing with both internal and external stakeholders with demonstrated commitment to excellence.
