Senior Pricing and Economic Modeller

The role

 

As our Senior Pricing and Economic Modeller, you’ll play a key role in developing South East Water’s price submission to the Essential Services Commission (ESC). You will support and lead elements of our economic and regulatory financial modelling, ensuring our submission reflects customer and community needs while meeting regulatory requirements.

 

You’ll work across the business to deliver accurate expenditure forecasts, demand modelling, tariff reviews, and business case development. The role also supports annual regulatory accounting obligations and helps ensure ongoing compliance with relevant legislation and standards.

 

This two-year maximum term position is highly collaborative and contributes to strategic planning, financial evaluations, and continuous improvement of our forecasting and revenue methodologies. Who are you?

 

We're seeking an experienced economic or regulatory professional with strong modelling expertise, excellent communication skills and the ability to work effectively in a complex, regulated environment.  The successful candidate will have a balance of analytical capability, collaboration, and strategic thinking and be comfortable delivering high‑quality work under pressure.

 

Candidates will require the following mix of skills, knowledge and experience to be considered:

 

  • Tertiary qualifications in economics, finance/accounting, law or a related field.
  • 5–7 years’ experience in a regulated sector with strong knowledge of economic regulation and regulatory finance.
  • Expertise in financial, regulatory and economic modelling (e.g., pricing, tariff, forecasting, cost‑benefit and NPV modelling).
  • Strong written and verbal communication skills, with the ability to simplify complex financial and economic concepts.
  • Advanced Excel skills and confidence leading or supporting pricing and demand modelling.
  • Highly developed analytical and critical‑thinking capabilities.
  • Strong stakeholder management skills with the ability to collaborate, influence and negotiate effectively.
  • The ability to manage multiple priorities and work well in a fast‑paced, deadline‑driven environment.
