Senior Network Engineer

The role

 

As a Senior Network Engineer, you’ll help to keep South East Water’s (SEW) network secure, stable, and performing at its best. You’ll take charge of monitoring and maintaining our core infrastructure, including Checkpoint Firewalls, Cisco Switch and wireless networks, while using monitoring tools such as Splunk and Cisco Catalyst Centre.

 

You’ll lead Level 3 escalations, support major projects, and drive improvements to the design and delivery of IT infrastructure to boost resilience, automation, and reliability of services to SEW's stakeholders. Working closely with teams across IT, you’ll help shape the evolution of our environment and guide others on the journey toward more cloud‑ready operations.

 

This 12-month, maximum-term role is hands‑on, influential, and central to ensuring our critical services run smoothly every day.

 

Who are you?

 

The preferred candidate will hold extensive experience working in a network support team as well as excellent troubleshooting skills. With the ability to communicate technical concepts to non-technical stakeholders, you'll hold experience using the following technologies:

 

  • Firewalls
  • Implementation and maintainance of Cisco LAN and Data Centre Switches
  • Maintenance of Cisco Wireless solutions
  • Utilisation of Syslog Observability Tools and monitoring tools such as Cisco Catalyst Centre

 

You'll hold working knowledge of ITIL and ITSM and hold certifications across the infrastructure landscape, including Cisco Certified Network Professional (CCNP) and Firewall Vendor Professional Level Certifications.

As part of a team of engineers and technicians, central to this role are responsibilities for 24/7 safe operation to provide support and minimise disruption of services to customers and as well as ensuring that public health and the environment are not put at risk. This includes participation in a rostered after-hours duty team, emergency response, and incident support as required.
