Project Engineer - Treatment Plant Upgrades

The role

 

South East Water is seeking a Project Engineer to join the Circular Economy Delivery team and help drive treatment plant upgrades at South East Water's Peninsula Treatment Plants. Reporting into the Peninsula Program Manager, the Project Engineer will support the transition to sustainable communities by implementing projects which incorporate circular economy principles and utilise the recovery of resources, whilst also combating climate change.

 

In this role, you'll be working as part of a team to deliver Water Recycling Plant projects within the Circular Economy group, by:

 

  • Managing procurement activities, contract management and the management of the design and construction for Civil, Mechanical & Electrical (M&E)/Control components of WRP projects
  • Collaborating with our capital delivery teams and partners to ensure that projects are delivered safely, on time, and within budget.
  • Assisting with the safe, timely and efficient delivery of tasks including planning and business case support

Who are you?

 

You're a Bachelor qualified Engineer (preferably in the discipline of Civil, Mechanical, Electrical or Process) working towards Chartered Professional Engineer (CPEng), with 4+ years' experience in sewerage treatment infrastructure or similar.

 

You're a results-driven individual with the ability to identify innovative solutions, diagnose and resolve complex problems and mitigate potential risks to projects. A strong communicator, you build lasting relationships due to your customer focus and demonstrated commitment to excellence. Along with these traits, you can demonstrate skills, experience or knowledge in the following areas:

 

  • Demonstrated Project Management skills and an understanding of an infrastructure asset project lifecycle
  • Safety leadership, with knowledge of the relevant OHS codes, standards and legislation
  • Understanding and appreciation of environmental issues relating to the design and construction treatment plant infrastructure
  • Ability to understand and write clear business cases, project briefs, board papers, workshop reports and meeting minutes
  • Broad knowledge of standards and specifications, including relevant WSAA Codes and knowledge of legislation related to the Water Industry

This role is remunerated at a Level 4 or Level 5, which is between $101,563 and $125,011 + super and offers are commensurate with the successful candidates' experience. The classification structure for this role has been designed to recognise multiple levels of experience in the engineering field, and incumbents will commence in a classification according to their level of experience, determined prior to employment. From here, the incumbent’s progression through the levels will be subject to South East Water's engineering pathway's structure.
