Process and Odour Engineer

The role
The Process and Odour Engineer works with the broader team in ensuring that South East Water's treatment facilities (sewage treatment, recycled water treatment, odour treatment) are capable of meeting their performance objectives.
Additionally, you will assist with the planning of a significant pipeline of projects which contribute to creating sustainable futures. Your contribution will include assisting in the development of master plans, concept and functional scoping, as well as business case development for our Water Recycling Plants and effluent reuse within South East Water catchments.
Day to day activities include:
- Planning activities for sewage treatment and odour control facilities including flow and load forecasting, master planning, options assessments and early-stage concept and feasibility studies
- Investigate treatment plant performance issues and develop solutions
- Undertake process, chemical, energy and greenhouse gas emission optimisation of existing and proposed assets
- Work with capital delivery partners by preparing RFQs and business case development for new works, utilising your expertise in process engineering for options assessments and functional design
Who are you?
You'll hold a bachelor's degree in Engineering, preferably in the discipline of Chemical, Mechanical, Environmental or Process. You will hold demonstrable experience in sewage treatment (or similar industry), with odour management experience preferred.
Additionally, you will hold the following skills and attributes:
- Well-developed analytical skills with a passion for solving complex problems
- Ability to handle multiple tasks concurrently and conflicting priorities
- Ability to identify and mitigate potential risks to projects and South East Water
- Clear customer focus when dealing with both internal and external stakeholders, with a demonstrated commitment to excellence
- Excellent written communication skills, with the ability to understand and write clear technical reports, business cases, project briefs, workshop reports and meeting minutes
- Holding interests in and knowledge of sustainable practices will be highly regarded

This role is remunerated at a Level 3 to Level 5 and offers are commensurate with the successful candidates' experience. The classification structure for this role has been designed to recognise multiple levels of experience in the engineering field, and incumbents will commence in a classification according to their level of experience, determined prior to appointment. From here, the incumbent’s progression through the levels will be subject to South East Water's engineering pathway's structure.
