Pressure Sewer Operations Technician

The role
As a Pressure Sewer Technician, you'll play a critical role in ensuring the safe, reliable and efficient operation of South East Water’s pressure sewerage network. Working across both field and office environments, you'll coordinate maintenance activities, respond to network incidents, investigate operational issues and help deliver continuous improvements across our pressure sewer systems.
This role operates within a 24/7 service environment and forms part of a rostered duty team, providing operational support and emergency response to minimise customer impacts and protect public health and the environment. You'll work closely with contractors, customers and internal stakeholders to maintain network performance, coordinate repairs and support ongoing infrastructure improvements.
Who are you?
To be successful in this role, you'll bring:
- Demonstrated experience in the operation, maintenance or construction of sewerage, water or recycled water systems.
- A trade qualification, Water Operations Certificate III, or equivalent relevant water industry experience.
- Strong fault-finding and problem-solving skills, with the ability to investigate and resolve complex operational issues independently.
- Sound knowledge of sewerage system operations and hydraulic principles relevant to pressure sewer networks.
- Experience working with contractors and coordinating maintenance or operational works in a field-based environment.
- Excellent communication and customer service skills, with the ability to build effective relationships and explain technical information clearly.
- Confidence using technology and works management systems to manage, monitor and report on operational activities.
- A strong commitment to safety, risk management and continuous improvement.
- The ability to work autonomously, manage competing priorities and contribute positively within a collaborative team environment.
- Exposure to SCADA, telemetry or IoT technologies, along with mechanical and electrical systems associated with pump stations and network infrastructure is desirable.

This role is remunerated at a Level 3, which is between $97,275 and $104,500 + super and offers are commensurate with the successful candidates' experience.

As part of a team of engineers and technicians, central to this role are responsibilities for 24/7 safe operation to provide support and minimise disruption of services to customers and as well as ensuring that public health and the environment are not put at risk. This includes participation in a rostered after-hours duty team, emergency response, and incident support as required.
