Policy Governance and Quality Officer

The role

 

We’re looking for a proactive and detail-oriented Policy Governance & Quality Officer to support the development, implementation and continuous improvement of our policy governance framework, Quality Management System (QMS) and document management practices. This role is instrumental in ensuring our policies, procedures and quality systems remain robust, compliant and aligned with legislative, regulatory and organisational requirements. Working closely with stakeholders across the business, you will drive policy and procedure governance maturity, build organisational capability and contribute to a culture of continuous improvement. 

  

Key responsibilities include: 

 

  • Developing and implementing a Policy Governance Business Plan to strengthen and mature the organisation’s policy framework
  • Supporting the ongoing maintenance and continuous improvement of the Quality Management System (QMS), including coordination of activities to maintain ISO 9001 certification
  • Managing and maintaining the document management system (OpenText/Livelink) to ensure accuracy, accessibility, and compliance
  • Partnering with stakeholders across South East Water to support effective policy development, review, and implementation
  • Providing practical guidance and coaching to uplift the quality, consistency, and usability of policies and procedures
  • Preparing clear and insightful reporting for senior leaders on management systems, policy status, compliance trends, and performance 

 

Who are you?

 

You are a governance, compliance or quality professional who thrives in a structured and regulated environment. You enjoy working collaboratively, influencing stakeholders and driving practical improvements, with a quality focus, to strengthen organisational governance and performance. 

 

To be successful, you will bring: 

 

  • 2–5 years’ experience in policy governance, compliance, risk, or assurance within a complex or highly regulated environment 
  • Demonstrated knowledge and hands-on experience in maintaining Quality Management Systems, including ISO 9001 
  • Proven experience developing, reviewing, and embedding policy frameworks, systems, and processes 
  • Strong understanding of legislative and regulatory requirements and their practical application to organisational policies and procedures 
  • Experience planning and delivering compliance reviews, audits, or assurance activities, including analysing findings and supporting effective remediation 
  • Experience working with document management systems or governance tools (e.g. OpenText/Livelink) 
  • Strong interpersonal and communication skills, with the ability to build relationships, provide credible advice, and influence outcomes 
  • Experience working in the public sector or within a highly regulated industry is desirable

This role is remunerated at a Level 5, which is between $115,748 and $122,323 + super and offers are commensurate with the successful candidates' experience.
