Internal Communications Team Leader

The role
A rare opportunity is now available for a seasoned Internal Communications Team Leader at South East Water for a maximum term up to 30 June 2026, to deliver impactful communications focused on our customers, communities, people and environment – innovating with purpose and acting with care as we deliver essential water and wastewater services.
The main responsibilities of the role include, but are not limited to the following:
- Leading the development and execution of South East Water’s employee communications strategy.
- Overseeing governance and enhancement of internal channels, including intranet, news, and events.
- Driving employee engagement through strategic communications and leadership of the internal comms team.
- Providing high-level advice and support to senior leaders and managing relationships with external content providers.
- Supporting on-call and incident communications and ensuring timely, effective messaging across the organisation.
Who are you?
A creative thinker, with a strategic mindset, you will bring the following to the role:
- A relevant tertiary qualification or 10+ years’ experience in communications, marketing, or public relations.
- Expertise in digital workplace tools, including Microsoft SharePoint Online and Teams.
- A customer-first mindset with a passion for creating meaningful employee experiences.
- Proven success delivering impactful communications across diverse channels and audiences.
- Experience navigating digital transformation and driving engagement in dynamic environments.
- Strong relationship-building skills across all levels of the organisation and with external partners.
- Calm and confident in managing issues and crises with strategic communication plans.
- Exceptional writing and editing skills, with a sharp eye for detail and brand consistency.
- Excellent influencing, negotiation, and interpersonal skills.

As part of a team of media and communications professionals, central to this role are responsibilities for 24/7 safe operation to provide support and minimise disruption of services to customers and as well as ensuring that public health and the environment are not put at risk. This includes participation in a rostered after-hours duty team, emergency response, and incident support as required.
