The role

The Infrastructure Manager will be responsible for evaluating and operating South East Water's IT Platforms (on premise and cloud based), DevOps, Database and network Services posture and practices. Working across and at all levels of the enterprise, the incumbent will be responsible for the overall delivery of Platform and enabling enterprise technologies operations including build and run activities within the function.

 

The key accountabilities will include;

 

  • Providing leadership in architecture, design, planning and support of Cloud computing with a focus on application and platform technology, with an ability to be the SME for multiple public cloud vendors and services, including IaaS and PaaS
  • Managing and leading the growing South East Water DevOps practice, including the orchestration/automation of platform provisioning, systems configuration, application deployment, application configuration, performance engineering and cloud deployments/management.
  • Managing Database Administration to optimise performance and availability to key South East Water applications.
  • Managing the South East Water WAN/LAN and remote access communications.
  • Managing the migration of platform services and applications on premise to Cloud Infrastructure and Platform Services over a strategic period, including the design and provisioning as and when required.
  • Leading a team of technical engineers and administrators, including performance and development management.
  • This role is critical in peer and stakeholder management to influence internal and external resources in prioritisation and delivery of the overall BTS roadmap and strategy.
  • Ensuring that work is identified and prioritised appropriately and act as the escalation point for the team as required. 

 

Who are you?

To be successful in this position, candidates will require the following key skills, knowledge and experience;

 

  • Extensive IT related experience, including hands on operational experience.
  • Solid leadership experience within an IT function
  • Experience in enterprise and hybrid technology environments.Strong experience and knowledge in Cloud Platforms.
  • Experience in developing and managing DevOps.Ability to understand and disseminate industry terminology and concepts to technical and non-technical stakeholders.
  • Good understanding of securing platforms, operating systems and databases, including hardening, alerting and access privileges
  • Tertiary qualifications in an IT discipline highly desired, or several years of relevant work experience.
  • Industry specific current certification across Microsoft Technologies, Cisco, DevOps.
