The role
Reporting to the Health & Safety Lead, the the Health and Safety Advisor is responsible for assisting in the successful implementation of the newly developed Safety strategy to move to a leading safety culture at South East Water. You will engage with key stakeholders to build a positive safety culture that empowers every individual working at South East Water to take accountability and responsibility for health and safety.
As a safety champion that drives change across the organisation, some day to day tasks may include the following:
- Participate in incident investigations and ensure these are are closed out in a timely manner, safety alerts are communicated promptly; and incident learnings are shared and leveraged to improve processes
- Identify trends, risks and proactively make decisions that safeguard the health and safety of our employees and contractors, using data and insights from across the organisation
- Co-ordinate, promote and implement health and safety initiatives, projects and programs in alignment with the overall Health & Safety Strategy
- Working with Contractors, including participation in tendering/procurement processes, Contractor Health and Safety onboarding, engagement on Health & Safety performance, compliance including site observations and management audits, as well as participation in contractor safety forums
- Assist with the assessment, mitigation and management of Safety risks through strategic risk management planning
Who are you?
The preferred candidate will hold qualifications in an Occupational Health and Safety related discipline, as well as proven experience undertaking a similar role in a large and complex organisation. You will also hold the following skills and attributes:
- Highly developed interpersonal skills including communication (verbal and written), consultation, stakeholder engagement
- A passion for safety and working with operational staff to understand and improve safety management practices
- Strong understanding of data analytics and ability to identify trends to improve health and safety performance
- A good knowledge of safety legal obligations, codes of practice and standards which contribute to the building of controls for common workplace hazards
- Knowledge and application of project management principles and methodologies including the ability to plan, organise and follow through on projects
- Experience in industrial-type operations will be highly regarded

This role is remunerated at a Level 4, which is between $104,610 and $112,447 + super and offers are commensurate with the successful candidates' experience.
