The role
The Health and Safety Advisor is responsible for assisting the Health & Safety Lead in the successful implementation of the newly developed safety strategy aiming to move to a leading safety culture at South East Water. This role will engage with key stakeholders to build a positive safety culture that empowers every individual working at South East Water to take accountability and responsibility for health and safety.
This position will report to the Health & Safety Lead and will work closely with other Health & Safety Advisors and the wider team on a day-to-day basis. Inspiring, engaging and motivating internal and external stakeholders to embrace safety as a core value part of Sout East Water's organisational identity.
Who are you?
In order to be considered for the role of Health & Safety Advisor, candidates should possess the following key skills, knowledge and experience;
- Demonstrated experience in industries with high-risk activities with a proven track record of delivering positive outcomes.
- A passion for health and safety and improving safety culture.
- Strong health and safety leadership experience to inspire, influence and motivate internal and external stakeholders.
- Strong understanding of data analytics and ability to identify trends to improve health and safety performance.
- Knowledge of change management principles (desirable)
- Continuous improvement mindset.
- Tertiary qualifications in an occupational health and safety related discipline and relevant industry proven experience undertaking a similar role in a large and complex organisation, particularly within civil construction safety / plant and process safety.
- Further qualifications in auditing, ISO 45001, or incident investigation/ ICAM would be an advantage.
- Knowledge and application of project management principles and methodologies including ability to plan, organise and follow through on projects (desirable)
- A working knowledge and experience in improving safety management systems certified to ISO45001 and ISO35003
- Highly developed interpersonal skills including communication (verbal and written), consultation, stakeholder engagement
- A good knowledge of safety legal obligations, codes of practice and standards which contribute to the building of complaint controls for common workplace hazards.
- Experience conducting audits to defined audit documentation, implementing corrective actions and completing incident investigations.

This role is remunerated at a Level 4.
