The role
South East Water is now seeking an Independent First Peoples' Board Delegate. This is a unique and career-defining opportunity.
The Independent First Peoples’ Delegate (the Delegate) role provides an opportunity for the incumbent to gain practical experience of a large public entity board and further develop their corporate governance skills and knowledge. This exciting role will help position them for Director appointments, whether on public sector, private company or not for profit entity Boards.
The Delegate’s role will engage with South East Water Board to utilise their skills and experience to provide an independent perspective and input to the board on a range of issues including but not limited to strategic discussions, environmental and water management and connection to Aboriginal values.
Key Responsibilities
- Contribute to discussions on a wide range of topics including:
-Strategic direction
-Organisational culture and workplace safety
-Operational and financial performance
-Environmental, economic, social and cultural outcomes
Who are you?
- Aboriginal and/or Torres Strait Islander person living in Victoria
- Capacity to devote approximately 20-25 days per annum to this role
- Strong connection to community and understanding of local perspectives
- Interest in water management, sustainability, and community outcomes
- Curiosity and motivation to build governance and board-level capability
- Confident communicator with the ability to contribute to high-level discussions
- Commitment to collaboration, cultural integrity and long-term impact
