The role

 

We're seeking a talented Data Scientist to join our team. This role will lead the development, upkeep, and enhancement of asset reliability data models and tools to improve the planning and execution of water and sewer reliability management plans and programs.

 

We are committed to leveraging data to drive innovation and deliver tangible improvements to our assets and services. This Data Scientist role is the focal point for our Asset Risk Model and is responsible for the coding/programming side of the model. Your work through this model enables the organisation to prioritise investments which prevent harm to the environment and the community. 

Who are you?

 

Tertiary Qualification: A degree in Computer Engineering, GIS, Statistics, or a field oriented towards Data Science.

 

Experience: Demonstrate 3-7 years of comprehensive experience in utilising a data science methodology to develop and enhance spatial data analytics models, predictive models for asset failure risk, and visualisation tools, preferable on network infrastructure such as water, gas, electricity and sewers.

 

Disciplinary Knowledge: Skilled in data science programming, with the capability to write code for tasks involving data wrangling, analysis, and visualisation.

 

Analytics Systems: Have practical experience with various data management and visualisation tools such as FME, SQL, Power BI, and coding proficiency in Python/R.

 

Collaborative Skills: Ability to collaborate within and outside the business.

 

Quality Assurance: Demonstrative ability to maintain systems such as experience in using version control systems such as Git, Azure Repos, and SourceTree

 

Communication: Possess effective communication skills for technical and non-technical audiences.

 

Problem-Solving: Demonstrate strong problem-solving skills and an analytical mindset to handle complex technical solutions and explore new avenues uncovered through data analysis.
