The role
The Chief Risk Officer (CRO) is a key senior position and has primary accountability for overseeing the ongoing strategic development and implementation of SEW’s risk management function.
The CRO is responsible for maturing and leading a contemporary approach to uplifting enterprise-wide risk culture and compliance.
Providing strategic direction, leadership and oversight of an effective risk governance framework, compliance obligations, insurance portfolio, quality systems, assurance and resilience processes, are critical success factors for this role.
The CRO also fulfills the role of Chief Audit Officer, with the responsibility for the requirements of the Internal Audit Charter.
Who are you?
A strategic and transformational CRO, you are viewed as a trusted advisor with a demonstrated ability to challenge the status quo and drive cultural change.
You have substantial experience in leading and directing an enterprise risk and compliance function in a large and complex organisation, preferably in the services sector or a state government context. You bring best practice expertise and a focus on emerging methodologies.
You’re an agile, flexible and collaborative leader who fosters a proactive, cohesive and high-performing team environment that builds trust and credibility with all stakeholders by ensuring risk and reputation are managed effectively.

South East Water operates a 24/7 service environment. Whilst this role does not involve after-hours rostered duty, all employees may be required to provide out of hours support from time to time as required.
