Assistant Management Accountant

The role
The Assistant Management Accountant is responsible for assisting with the delivery of South East Water’s management accounting functions and reporting requirements. This includes recording business transactions within the financial ledger in accordance with accounting policies, preparing monthly financial results against budget and forecasts, and preparing annual budgets for assigned management Groups within the business.
Working closing with the Performance Reporting Analyst, and key internal stakeholders, this role plays an integral part of the Business Performance Team, whose key functions include recording and reporting the respective business Groups’ monthly financial results against budget, assisting with up to date forecast information for the respective business Groups and engaging with key internal stakeholders and resolving queries when and as they arise.
Some other accountabilities of the Assistant Management Accountant include;
- Preparing and posting journals to accurately reflect the assigned management Groups’ business transactions.
- Preparing monthly Group financial results for the respective General Managers, including performance financial analysis against budget and forecast.
- Assisting in the preparation of the annual budget for their responsible Group/s.
- Assisting the finance team in providing simple accounting advice and recommendations for their responsible Group/s, when required.
- Supporting the Business Planning & Reporting team, and the wider finance team.
Who are you?
In order to be considered for this role, candidates will require a tertiary Business or Accounting qualification, and must be CPA or CA qualified (or be working towards the qualification). Along with a minimum of three years' experience and knowledge in management accounting and/or financial management, the successful candidate will also have a solid knowledge of accounting procedures with an ability to communicate financial information to internal and external stakeholders.
The following skills, experience and knowledge will ensure the candidate's success:
- Demonstrate continuous development of financial and management accounting principles.
- Capability to work collaboratively with internal and external stakeholders.
- Sound written communication skills for assistance in the preparation of management reports
- Sound knowledge of accounting software and in MS Office suite products, including, Outlook, and Excel.
- Ability to work within tight deadlines and escalate when timelines may not be achieved.
- Self motivated to proactively challenge the status quo and the ability to work autonomously.
- Previous knowledge or experience with Oracle Fusion Cloud highly sought after, however not mandatory.

This role is remunerated at a Level 3 which is between $91,691 and $98,501 + super and offers are commensurate with the successful candidates' experience.
